Improved Mechanical Property and Corrosion and Wear Resistance of High-Voltage Aluminium Wires by Micro-Arc Oxidation Coating

New surface treatments are required to improve the resistance of high-voltage aluminium conductors corrosion and wear. This paper describes preparation ceramic coatings on wires by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technology. The morphology, mechanical tribological properties, electrical resistivity, wear MAO-treated samples examined compared not only with untreated but also between use different current densities in MAO process. treatment can increase tensile strength wire mitigate elongation at excessive high temperature. In addition, increased hardness overlapping micro-porous distribution coating treated sample respectively, protecting substrate from joint effects corrosion. Furthermore, has little impact resistivity change due corrosive damage. technology providing a potential idea for is expected extend service life alleviate maintenance needs operating harsh environments.
